The History of Phone Sales - Interactive Timeline!
22 Aug 2013
This is something we've been working on for some time now and we finally unleashed it on the world a few days ago. It's a timeline showing the growth of the mobile phone industry since 1997. All the data has been collected by Gartner with their reports allowing us to track the sales of the industry as a whole and on a per manufacturer basis.
As you'll see by visiting The History of Phone Sales page, we've also made the timeline interactive. By dragging the bar from left to right, you'll notice a notification system on the right. This "tweet" style area lists the events that happened at the time on the timeline. So when hovering over 2007 Q1 on the timeline, you'll notice this was when Steve Jobs announced the iPhone. Then as you move towards the future, you can see the growth of Apple's impact on the mobile phone industry.
We've taken a lot of time to ensure that all of the notable events in mobile phone history are there, from the release of the Nokia 3210 to iOS 6 spawning outrage over the maps.
We really hope everyone likes it and we've got even more interesting and useful tools lined up for the future. Like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter to find out exactly what they are and when they're released.
