How our carrier check by IMEI works

An IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number is at the heart of our carrier check. A unique code, this 15-digit number links up with detailed information about a specific device (including carrier info). Hard-coded, each IMEI is centrally recorded in a Type Allocation Code (TAC) database, which is managed by the GSM (Global System of Mobile Communications) Association.

With direct and authorized access to this database, our software works at speed to identify the relevant IMEI number and export all relevant device data associated with it.

To ensure the most accurate and up-to-date results, our software runs a daily database check before producing its reports.


How to find your IMEI

To check IMEI number look in the 'Settings', ‘About’ menu of the device, type *#06# into the keypad, look in the battery compartment under the battery, on the SIM card. Failing that, then look for the IMEI number printed or on the sticker on your phone box.
