Samsung Galaxy S4 rooted already
04 Apr 2013
That’s right our unlocking friends, the not even released yet Samsung Galaxy S4 can already be rooted. These are the claims of users over at XDA (where you can find us posting from time to time as well) that the 8 core edition can be rooted, opening up the possibility for users to run programs they otherwise wouldn’t be able to.
It should be said that the version that we here in the UK are getting is the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor edition. Whereas these files for rooting the phone are only useful for those with the 8 core Exynos 5 processor. However, before we all throw our arms up in the air and start lambasting Samsung (again) for supplying us with a seemingly inferior phone, we should mention that this is a step in the right direction for everyone. Android crackers have found a way of doing it with the 8 core, so really it won’t be much further into the future before they can do it with the 4 core. Who knows, the rooted firmware may even be available before the release of the Galaxy S4 here in the UK!
If you are interested in picking up the S4, the release date in the UK will be April 26th. I’ve been checking around a little bit this morning because I’m actually also interested in swapping my iPhone 4S for the 5 inch beast, and prices indicate that it should be cheaper than the iPhone 5 over a full term contract. Woop!
