A lot has been going since the MWC 17 took place last month. With Samsung launching its latest version of its flagship Galaxy phone and Android coming with some incredible updates, there is simply a number of things going on right now. So, here we are going to cover some of the hottest news that is spreading across the web. We hope you enjoy reading.

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 plus– the latest leaks

An overwhelmingly large number of rumors have been going on regarding what Samsung’s latest flagship phones, the Galaxy S8 and S8 plus, are going to be like. It is only now that the phones’ launch date has been revealed which is on March 29, on the company’s Galaxy Unpacked 2017 event. As already expected, it is going to be the most expensive phone on the market with a price tag of EUR 799 for S8 and EUR 899 for S8 plus. Nevertheless, you must probably be anxious about what new features and specs the new device is going to hold. Well, thanks to so many leaks, we do know now that the phone is going to sport either a Black Sky, Orchid Gray or Arctic Silver color. However, more colors are expected. Also, this time, the flagship phone is not going to come with a home button and will have a virtual on-screen button. The images further revealed that the volume and Bixby buttons are placed on the left while the power button was seen to be on the left. The Bixby feature, as such, has been confirmed, with the company’s privacy page reading “you can control all operations with the touch interface using voice commands with Bixby”. Other leaks indicate that the phone is going to have a high resolution screen. This is however, not going to be the default setting. According to some images shared, the user will be able to choose from three different screen resolution options. WQHD+, the highest resolution option giving you a 1440 x 2960 display, is one of them, with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The other option is the 1080 x 2220 FHD+ display which will be set to default. As such, users will have to toggle with their own settings in order to get the highest resolution. Other sources have revealed that the S8 might be containing a 3D touch feature just like the one found in Apple’s iPhone, allowing the phone to respond in different ways, when touched with different pressure magnitudes.

The Android O is finally up

The Android O, Google’s updated operating system, has been announced with the preview coming earlier than its predecessors. According to the announcements, the latest software is optimized for efficiency in terms of providing developers with Background Limits. The feature will allow developers to create apps that are much less cumbersome on your battery. Another interesting feature will be the picture-in-picture (PIP) function that will make multi-tasking much more convenient. Although the split window feature already provided multi-tasking, PIP will however, let you work with more effectiveness as you can watch your favorite videos while completing other tasks. Apart from these updates, notifications have also been upgraded with the new software allowing users to snooze notifications for a later time period. In addition, you can view different types of notifications in different colors.

Android O and Sony together

It seems that Sony has been the major contributor in enhancing Android O’s feature set. One of such enhancements has been the LDAC codec which significantly boosts the audio quality over Bluetooth. This is indeed a true innovation as the codec allows up to 990 kbps to travel over a wireless connection, incredibly improving the quality of the sound you hear on your wireless headphones.
