Why is my Xiaomi account locked?

What’s an activation lock?
An activation lock is a security feature of your Xiaomi device. It stops unauthorized people from accessing your device by requesting account login information that only the authorized owner would know.

I’m the legal owner of my Xiaomi phone but I’m locked out
If you forget some, or part of, your Xiaomi account login information you won’t be able to get past the activation lock screen. The only solution is to arrange for the locked account to be removed so you can create a new one.

How do I find my IMEI?
To locate your IMEI, type *#06# into your smartphone and it will appear on the screen. You can also find it by going to ‘Settings/About Phone/Status/IMEI Information’. Or by looking at the white label under your phone’s battery.

Why do I need to set up an account for my Xiaomi phone?

I’ve done a factory reset and now I can’t login to my Xiaomi phone
After a factory reset, your Xiaomi phone will automatically take you to the activation lock screen. This will prompt you to login with your Xiaomi account ID and password. If you don’t know these or have forgotten them, you’ll need to erase that account from the phone and set up a new one.

How long will the locked account be removed from my phone for?
