Orange are the popular network, who have previously merged with T-Mobile to form the Everything Everywhere (EE) group. They also have their own range of mobile phones, with models being named after popular places around the globe, such as Barcelona and San Francisco. It's likely that you Orange handset is locked to the Orange network, but you don't have to limit the phone to just the Orange network. By removing the SIM lock on the phone, you can use whichever compatible network from around the world that you wish.
Once unlocked your Orange phone will then accept SIM cards from a range of other networks, capable of making local rate calls, even if you travel internationally. You will of course also be able to switch networks whilst in your home country, so you can use whichever network you prefer.
Unlocking an Orange phone is done by using an unlock code. We use the IMEI of each handset to locate its unique unlock code. This code will then only work on the handset you have, so please do be sure that when entering your IMEI on the order form, you find it by dialling this on your handsets keypad: *#06#
The Orange store in Eastbourne may have had a bit of a surprise this week when they opened their shutters to the sight of a man protesting outside because the network wouldn’t give him the unlock code for his Orange locked mobile phone.

We were previously having some trouble obtaining unlock codes for the Orange San Francisco with our standard Orange unlock tool, but we've now gained access to an alternative cheaper tool specifically for the Orange San Francisco.
